O’ They Tell Me of an Unclouded Day

I watched a video this week of one of my favorite bluegrass singers playing an old gospel hymn. It was the song “Unclouded Day.” The lyrics go like this:

“O they tell me of a home far beyond the skies,
O they tell me of a home far away;
O they tell me of a home where no storm clouds rise;
O they tell me of an unclouded day.
O the land of cloudless day,
O the land of an unclouded sky,
O they tell me of a home where no storm clouds rise,
O they tell me of an unclouded day.”

This song is a beautiful, upbeat song that speaks of the hope we have in heaven. It speaks of a day that we look forward to where there will be no dark and gloomy, clouded days.

What really caught my attention in watching this video of this bluegrass singer was what he said just before he sang the song. He said, “I’m not really a religious person, but this song is just so uplifting and beautiful.”

See, the reality is, everybody wants to go to heaven. The doctrine of heaven is something that most people want to believe in because it gives us all hope for something better than our difficult lives. Everybody wants something better than what this life offers. Everybody wants something to hope for. The beauty of it is, God has given it to those who seek Him. Because of Jesus, those who obey Him and submit their lives to Him, we have an unclouded day to look forward to. Will you give your life to Jesus so that you can look forward to an unclouded day?

“And He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; and there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4
