You may be wondering who I am, and why you’re reading my blog. My name is Kolton Ballance and I am a Christian. I am married to the most magnificent Christian woman under the sun; her name is Katy. We honestly ask ourselves all the time how we ended up here. That’s part of why I wanted to start this blog. Katy and I have not always been Christians. I don’t want to speak on her behalf so I’ll just share a little about me.
I come from a background of heavy drinking, drug use, and even a little jail time every now and then. To me, that was just a way of life. I was raised in an environment that promoted it. I was surrounded by people who did this and it just became “normal” for me. In 2016 my life changed. I became a Christian in May of 2016. I was baptized and forgiven of all of that crazy stuff I used to do. Three years later I found myself moving to Denver, CO to study the Bible everyday and prepare for ministry (this is the short version of the story). My life was changing drastically and fast, but it has been the best thing that has ever happened to me.
I’ve started this blog as an effort to encourage people who find themselves in the same rut that I used to be in. I’ve started this for people who are struggling to find a purpose in everyday life, for people who feel that life is so much more than the next weekend drinking binge, or the same old 9-5 job, or even the divided religious world you see today. I’ve started this blog to help people see that life has purpose. God has created us to love Him and to love each other (Mark 12:30-31). I hope that this blog and the future things that I write will encourage people to seek God and what He wants. I hope it promotes love in a world full of hate. I hope it promotes unity in a world full of division. I hope it promotes Godliness in a world full of un-Godliness. I hope that this blog can assist in making the world everything God wants it to be. My desire is to create balance in an un-balanced world (hints the name of the blog).
If you find yourself reading this, I hope that you’ll subscribe to this and stay tuned for more. I want this to encourage you to seek God and strive to be everything He wants you to be.
I love you, and God loves you.
